Jamie Vardy said he was determined not to let the Blue Army down at the weekend after hearing them sing from start to finish in Leicester City’s 2-2 Barclays Premier League draw with Southampton.

After going 2-0 down at half time, Vardy’s brace of goals capped yet another brilliant comeback from the Foxes, who took a point from St. Mary’s Stadium to maintain fifth spot in the table.

The goals were Vardy’s eighth and ninth of the league season, but amid a dominant second half for City, the striker was still disappointed not to be able to reward the outstanding travelling support with a victory.

<div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“The Leicester fans are brilliant,” <strong>Vardy told <a href="http://www.player.lcfc.com" target="_blank">Foxes Player HD</a></strong> after the 2-2 draw with Southampton. “Just look at them today. We were 2-0 down and they never stopped singing. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“As soon as we got that first goal you could see what was going to happen. We were on top, we got the second goal and they’ve gone absolutely barmy. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“That’s what we want, we want the fans behind us and they were again. Like I said I probably could have had a hat-trick so I may have let them down a bit, but I’m sure they’ll be happy with a point.” </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >It was certainly a happy ending to the match for the Foxes, who recovered points from a losing position for an amazing fifth time this season, but City were frustrated to have been 2-0 down. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >Defenders Jose Fonte and Virgil van Dijk got the goals for the Saints – both from set plays – and it was a particular source of annoyance for Leicester, who had prepared for that throughout the week. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >Vardy added: “It was a disappointing first half to be honest, coming in 2-0 down, especially against two set plays. But obviously the boys in the second half have showed their character, they’ve managed to get the point and it could have been more. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“It is definitely [disappointing], especially as we’ve been looking at Southampton all this week and one of their goals was a carbon copy of what they’ve been doing all this season. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“We’ve not managed to get across and defend the near post but it doesn’t matter at the end of the day as to come from 2-0 down here and get a point is a good result.” </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >The striker also revealed that there was no panic at half time, with the Foxes knowing exactly what they needed to do to get back into the match – a plan they executed brilliantly. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“It was very calm,” Vardy said of the half time team talk. “The boss just said we looked like we were sitting off a bit and we needed to be pushing higher up and getting in their faces higher up. We made the changes at half time – Riyad [Mahrez] set one up and Nathan [Dyer] set one up just before that so the impact they made was brilliant. We were just on top all second half. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div ><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">“Riyad at the end fed me straight through on goal. Then Nathan’s cross too – you won’t see me getting many headers – but I managed to get my head on it as well.”</span></span></div><div ><a href="http://www.player.lcfc.com" target="_blank"><img xlink:href="tcm:0-2692753" title="PlayerHD2015_Banner" alt="PlayerHD2015_Banner" style="width: 480px; height: 100px;" /></a><br /></div>
