And despite City registering a fifth win in their last six top-flight fixtures, Vardy insisted that celebrations will be brief as his side prepare for Saturday’s visit of high-flying Southampton. 

The former Fleetwood Town man told Foxes Player: “It’s another three points in the right direction. It’s a nice day, we’ll take the three points, celebrate with our families and then we’ll be back on that training field looking forward to the Southampton game. 

“We need to win as many games as we can. A win’s a win, it’s three more points but I think the performance deserved the scoreline as well. 

“We could have had a few more, and I should have scored at the end but at the end of the day we’ve come away with the three points and that’s all that matters. 

“I think I jumped a bit too early. Marc [Albrighton] floated it in, it just held up and I’ve tried to get my neck around to get it, but it was a good yard wide.” 

It was a sensational start to the game from the Foxes, with Argentine frontman Ulloa scoring from a corner within a minute to put his side into the lead before Morgan scored off another set-play just 16 minutes after the opening goal. 

Vardy added: “That is how we need to start every single game. Luckily we have got the early goal and that has set us on the way. We got another soon after and we have just carried on pressing and pressing. 

“We make sure we are out of the blocks as quick as we can and if you get the goal with the run they have been on there is a chance they might crumble. We got the second goal and after that to be fair we dominated possession.”
