- Chelsea provide the next test for LCFC Women this weekend- The Barclays Women’s Super League fixture will be played at Kingsmeadow- Sunday’s match in the capital has a 2pm GMT kick-off- There’s a buzz that something is building at the Club, says CJ Bott
With eight points to their name, Leicester head to the capital to take on the current league champions on matchday eight of the season, having most recently beat Manchester City on penalties in the Continental Tyres League Cup.
Ahead of the game, Bott previewed the clash, describing how she feels confident in her own and her team-mates abilities to take something from Kingsmeadow on Sunday afternoon.
“We were disappointed to concede the two goals in the second half,” Bott told the media. “But points against Manchester City is never an easy thing to do and getting that extra point in the cup is a thing to build on.
“We take small wins from every game we play, as well as our learnings, and we’re in a good position going into the weekend. We’ve learned some lessons over the last few weeks, and we’ll go into the game ready to fight.
“Chelsea are an incredible side with great players and each player has great strengths which aren’t easy to defend against, but personally I love a challenge and I’m ready for it, which is important because I think it’ll be crucial to win my battles.
“Preparation is pretty straight forward actually. We all know our roles and as long as we focus on our own strengths and win our battles then we can bring the game to Chelsea.”
While the Blues have lifted the league title in the last three seasons, the New Zealander isn't afraid to keep Leicester's identity and take the game to Chelsea, and was keen to talk about the squad’s confidence this campaign.
“I go into every game with the same mentality,” City's No.4 explained. “I want to show my strengths and beat whoever I’m up against, so I take every game the same way.
“We take a lot of confidence from our recent performances and as a team we know what we’re capable of, which is why it’s so frustrating to have been conceding those second half goals.
“We know we can do so much better, and people are starting to see what we’re capable of, so we just need to make sure we can make the performances last for the full game.
“I think the morale is really high and we’re excited for what the future holds. The Club have added some players which are great technically, but they’re also great people who have added to the culture and the environment.
“We all love coming in every day; it doesn’t feel like a job to me. There’s a good buzz around the place because we know we’re going to do great things. There’s a high-performance culture around here, but we’re a family which helps us on the pitch.”
