- Leicester City welcome Manchester City to King Power Stadium on Saturday (12:30pm kick-off)- The Foxes are looking for a third Premier League win in a row- Defender Timothy Castagne says City can approach the fixture 'with nothing to lose'- He discusses Leicester's improved form and their returning defensive solidity
Pep Guardiola's men remain as impressive a force as ever in 2022/23, with Erling Haaland adding a frightening firepower to an already supremely talented squad. Castagne, though, says Leicester have the quality to cause their visitors problems in Saturday's 12:30pm kick-off.
"It's going to be a very tough game, but we’re going in with nothing to lose to be honest," the Belgium international told LCFC TV earlier this week. "They’re the team to beat. We’re just going to play and we’ll see what happens, but it’ll be a very interesting game.
"We can also have some different tactics, different plans, that can hurt a different style of team. That’s good and we have a lot of quality at the front where we can score. Even when we’re not in a good game, we can turn around and score two goals in 10 minutes and that’s it."
Castagne has been pleased with City's performances over recent weeks - enabling Brendan Rodgers' men to pick up three wins from five games, most recently a 4-0 triumph over Wolves at Molineux. Defensive solidity, Leicester's No.27 believes, has been the key to that upturn in fortunes.
"Against Wolves, it was a bit different because we didn’t start very well, but we still had some good blocks at the back," he explained. "We had some good defensive stuff and then, with our quality, we can score from everywhere at any time.
"That was not the problem during our bad spell in the beginning. If we can just keep the clean sheet, we know we are going to score at the other side. I think we knew that we weren’t supposed to be that low in the table. It’s good to see that, now, the results reflect the qualities that we have.
"It’s also been much better defensively and that’s been an emphasis point in the last few weeks. It’s good to see the results on that part."
