- Ben Chilwell says every member of the Leicester City squad should be ready to be called upon over the coming days
- Next up for the Foxes is an Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round tie at Derby County on Friday

- Chilwell is hoping his experience of playing in the Championship on loan at Huddersfield Town will stand him in good stead if he plays against the Rams
It is important for Leicester City to show their strength in depth over the next few days, says .
The Foxes contest an on Friday evening, before a Premier League clash with Burnley at Turf Moor follows on Tuesday.
Claudio Ranieri made five changes to the side that and for Chilwell, that performance proved every member of the squad has so far been ready to step in when called upon.
Speaking of the win over Everton, Chilwell told LCFC TV: “We’d obviously and we’d lost, so going there was a massive game for us. We wanted to go there and beat them, but not just for that reason.
“It showed the strength in depth that we’ve got in the squad because it was a different team that had been playing week in, week out in the Premier League.
“We all showed that we were up to the level and that was good because we need that balance in the squad and everyone needs to be ready when they’re called upon.
“It was good for the boys to get a run out and do well. Whoever plays against Derby will give it their all to win the game. We’ve got two games in such a short space of time, so everyone will need to be called upon at some stage.
“It’s up to that player to then do well for themselves and the team. It’s good competition within the squad if everyone is playing well because it makes us rise to another level – hopefully that will bring more wins.”
Chilwell knows the rigours of the Championship well having enjoyed a successful eight-game loan spell at Huddersfield Town last season.
Playing at that level was no doubt beneficial for Chilwell and the left back is hoping he can draw on that experience if selected against the Rams.
“I stepped up from the Under-21s to the Championship and it’s obviously a lot more physical,” Chilwell continued. “There are a lot of good footballing sides in the Championship, but at the same time teams like to mix it up.
“If they do need to go long and put it up to the striker or into the channel then can. The teams are really good at that as well as playing out from the back.
“It’s a very competitive league and I think playing in the Championship in those eight games for Huddersfield will really help me in this game against Derby.”
