Three Leicester City supporters whose artwork won the ‘Put Your Stamp On King Power Stadium’ competition this month paid a special visit to see their winning entries on Thursday.
At the end of 2016, City gave supporters the opportunity to submit designs to be painted onto the West Stand concourse walls following the addition of similar artwork last summer documenting the Club's Premier League triumph.
The entries were whittled down to a shortlist of five by professional artists from Graff HQ, a Leicester-based graffiti company, before a fans’ vote on LCFC.com determined the two winning designs.
Anil Patel (above, right), who has supported City since the 1970s, said: “The inspiration was delving back to my first experience of following the Club. I was born locally and went to all the local schools, so it’s in my blood.
“I am part of the history and this is my spiritual home. I know about that history, the ups and downs, and our unprecedented success last season. There is reference for the future as well, going forward.
“I am very proud, I’d like to thank to people who voted for my design.”
The second design was created by Mick Peacock and Russ Pateman (pictured above), with Mick explaining: “I started supporting the Club in the 1970s and this design is about trying to remember all the players who have played for us.
“I remember games down at Filbert Street, travelling home and away across the country. You’re younger then and you appreciate it a little more and it was fantastic.
“I am very proud and will be very pleased when the family see it, we’re all Leicester supporters so it’s nice to actually be a part of the ground.”
Supporters will get their first glimpse of the finished artwork when visiting King Power Stadium for the Premier League fixture against Manchester United on Sunday 5 February (4pm kick-off).
