The Foxes got their 2023/24 WSL campaign started in great fashion last weekend as they beat Bristol City to claim their first points in front of 4,000 people at Ashton Gate - an achievement which took Leicester until January to achieve last term. On the back of a convincing win, City head home for the first time when they face Everton in a 3pm BST kick-off on Sunday.
Prior to their meeting with the Toffees, here is a detailed look into both sides...
The Foxes camp
After a four month pre-season, which saw a summer of change with nine new additions were confirmed, Leicester were finally back playing competitive football when they took on last season's Barclays Women's Championship winners, Bristol City on Sunday afternoon.
The game didn't start brilliantly for the Foxes, who conceded the first goal of the season when winger Carrie Jones, who spent the year on loan with Leicester last season, found the net past Janina Leitzig. But the tables turned just before the break when former Bristol City midfielder Aimee Palmer, who joined the Club on a permanent basis this summer, found the net with a spectacular left-footed effort from outside the box.
In the second half, the Foxes took control as two more debutants opened their accounts. Forwards Lena Petermann and Jutta Rantala scored close range efforts after Shannon O'Brien's strike just after the interval. Willie Kirk will now be hoping to carry this momentum forward to Filbert Way when he meets another former employer at the weekend.
The opposition
Sunday's opponents come in the form of Everton who had a positive campaign last term, finishing sixth with 30 points collected via nine wins and three draws. However, the Toffees haven't started this campaign as strongly, losing 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion on the opening day.
A quick-fire brace from Elisabeth Terland within the first 15 minutes stunned the hosts at Walton Park, despite clawing one goal back through Megan Finnigan just past the hour-mark. Now Everton will be looking for redemption when they travel to the Midlands this weekend.
In the dugout
Brian Sørensen resides in the Everton dugout, and has done since his appointment in June of last year. Prior to his move to the top flight of women's football in England, he enjoyed spells with numerous clubs in his homeland, Denmark. Most notably with Fortuna Hjørring, where he won the Elitedivisionen twice, in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
He's also won the Danish Women's Cup on three occasions with three different clubs, lifting the trophy first in 2009 with IK Skovbakken and most recently with FC Nordsjælland in 2020 before his move to Merseyside.
Last time out
The Foxes faced Everton twice in the league last season, drawing once and losing on the road in September last year. The reverse at Walton Hall Park saw a free-kick turned in by former 'keeper Kirstie Levell in the dying stages of the game.
In the return fixture in March, Leicester were held to a goalless draw at King Power Stadium in a hard-fought battle which saw both sides take a point, which played a part in Leicester achieving safety on the final day.
