- Youri Tielemans wants Leicester City to bounce back from the disappointment of Sunday’s loss to Leeds United- The Foxes have a chance to do so when they face Fulham in the Premier League on Wednesday (6pm GMT kick-off)- Tielemans says the frequency of fixtures will allow them to build another unbeaten run of games
City’s first loss in 10 outings across all competitions came on Sunday, when Leeds United recovered from Harvey Barnes’ 13th-minute strike to seal a 3-1 win thanks to goals from Stuart Dallas, Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison. A second Premier League outing in the space of only four days, though, presents the Foxes with an opportunity to return to winning ways – and it’s one that midfielder Tielemans says City will give their all to take. “It was a very quiet feeling,” Tielemans reflected to LCFC TV when asked about Sunday’s match. “It wasn’t something we were happy about, obviously, because we lost, especially at home. “We wanted to keep that form going, and it didn’t happen, so we were very disappointed with ourselves.
“We knew that our performance wasn’t good enough to win the game, and then Leeds got the better of us. It wasn’t good, and now we have a chance on Wednesday to make it right and win.
“We know that we have a lot of games to play in midweek every time. We know that we can turn things around very quickly, so yes, it was a disappointing game on Sunday.
“But now we have to focus on Wednesday and the Fulham game to try and go there to win the game. They won at our home (2-1 loss in November), and now it’s up to us to make it right.”
Tielemans recalled November’s 2-1 defeat by Fulham at King Power Stadium as a game in which City did not hit the performance levels they have reached so often this term. “We didn’t perform well when we played them, so it’s a positive that we know that if we’re at our best, we can challenge to win the game,” he said.
“We weren’t good enough in the first game, and now it’s up to us, like I said, to make it right, and hopefully go and win there.
“I think it’s just our performance on the night, especially without fans in the stadium. We know that there is nothing else that comes about, other than the pitch, and it’s up to us to perform well and to win the game and focus.”
The Foxes head into Wednesday’s clash occupying fourth position in the Premier League table knowing three points could send them second should other midweek results go in their favour. He added: “We’re having a very good season. We have to stay like this to keep it going. If we can win the game on Wednesday, then maybe we’re back in a good run of games after.
“It’s going very quickly, but you can see the table is close. We don’t have to think about it, just about our performance and winning games. That’s the most important thing.”
