- Ten Leicester City players notch up further minutes while out on loan- Admiral Muskwe netted his first goal for Wycome Wanderers in their clash with Brentford- Darnell Johnson made his home debut for AFC Wimbledon against MK Dons
The Zimbabwe international striker powered home a 43rd-minute equaliser for the Chairboys after Ethan Pinnock and Ivan Toney were on target for Brentford, and Uche Ikpeazu netted for the visitors at Brentford Community Stadium.
However, five second-half goals from the Bees saw Wycombe fall to defeat, with Josh Knight playing 90 minutes for Gareth Ainsworth’s men.
Versatile defender Darnell Johnson, meanwhile, made his home bow for AFC Wimbledon in their 2-0 loss to MK Dons at Plough Lane, having featured against Doncaster Rovers in League 1 four days prior.
However, second-half strikes from Matt O’Reilly and Matthew Sorinola, coming in the space of just three minutes, means Johnson’s adopted side were unable to register a first league win since early December.
Another loanee in Football League action was goalkeeper Daniel Iversen, who played from start to finish in Preston North End’s 1-0 Championship loss to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
Liam Palmer’s effort on the stroke of half-time sealed three points for hosts at Hillsborough Stadium during the Denmark youth international’s fourth appearance for Alex Neil’s side.
Talented midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, meanwhile, notched up another 90 minutes of Championship action in Luton Town’s narrow reverse at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
The 22-year-old’s 20th appearance for the Hatters in all competitions saw Blackburn’s Adam Armstrong score an 85th-minute winner for the hosts at Ewood Park.
In the same division, midfielder Matty James played his fourth game for Coventry City to help them to a 1-1 draw away to Birmingham City on Saturday.
His second Championship outing in the space of just four days saw Gustavo Hamer reply to Jeremy Bela’s early spot-kick, and that’s how it finished at St. Andrew’s Stadium.
Staying in England, striker George Hirst came off the bench late on, but couldn’t prevent Rotherham United from suffering a 3-1 loss to Swansea City at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.
First-half efforts from Conor Hourihane and Matt Grimes put the Swans into a 2-0 lead, and while Rotherham’s Freddie Ladapo halved the deficit on 65 minutes, Jay Fulton restored the visiting side’s two-goal advantage with 16 minutes to play.
Over in Belgium, Kamal Sowah completed 90 minutes and Josh Eppiah came off the bench in Oud-Heverlee Leuven’s 1-0 Jupiler Pro League loss to Beerschot VA at King Power at Den Dreef Stadium on Saturday.
Defender Filip Benković, meanwhile, was an unused substitute as Tarik Tissoudali struck the winning for the visitors with 74 minutes gone in Belgium.
Finally, Algeria winger Rachid Ghezzal played over an hour for Beşiktaş in their 2-1 home loss to Trabzonspor in the Turkish Süper Lig on Sunday.
Despite Vincent Aboubakar’s opener at Vodafone Park, an own goal from Francisco Montero, and Vitor Hugo’s effort after the break, saw Beşiktaş, who finished the game with 10 men following Dorukhan Toköz’s dismissal, suffer their first defeat in 10 games in all competitions.
