- Leicester City and the Leicestershire & Rutland County FA confirm Holmes Park is to be the new home of the Club’s Development Squad

- The Club and the County FA have undertaken an extensive redevelopment of the venue to meet Premier League and UEFA regulations

- Grassroots football clubs from across Leicestershire will also benefit from the new, improved facilities in Whetstone over the calendar year

- The Under-23s’ first fixture at their new home is the Premier League 2 clash against Manchester City on Monday 30 January (7pm kick-off)

Leicester City Football Club and the Leicestershire & Rutland County FA are pleased to announce that Holmes Park is to become the official home venue of the Club’s Under-23s Development Squad**.**

In close co-ordination with the County FA, the Club have undertaken an extensive redevelopment of the site in Whetstone to make it suitable to host City’s rising stars and to bring the venue in line with Premier League and UEFA regulations.

The facilities include an improved playing surface, overseen by award-winning King Power Stadium groundsman John Ledwidge, alongside refurbished changing and medical rooms and the inclusion of new stands for spectators.

As well as City’s Development Squad, grassroots football clubs from across the Leicestershire and Rutland region, including the annual finalists of the County Cup, will also benefit from the fantastic facilities at Holmes Park throughout the calendar year.

Steve Beaglehole’s side will run out at their new home for the first time against Manchester City Under-23s in Premier League 2 on Monday 30 January (7pm kick-off) and the Blue Army can purchase tickets from the City Fanstore for as little as £3 for Adults until 4pm on Monday afternoon.

Leicester City Chief Executive Susan Whelan said: “Holmes Park has been a vital asset to the Leicestershire football community for many years, so we’re delighted that this significant investment – born out of our excellent working relationship with the Leicestershire & Rutland County FA – will bring dual benefits both for the Club and for grassroots football in Leicestershire.

“An important part of our philosophy in the development of young players is to embed them in the local environment and to give them an appreciation of the community that has supported this Club for 133 years.

“Regular fixtures at an improved Holmes Park gives us a great opportunity to do that in an outstanding facility and to support the development of local grassroots football.”

“It is fantastic that so many local players are going to be able to benefit as a result of this investment – a real boost for local grassroots football.”

Steve Beaglehole, the Under-23s manager, said: “It is a great privilege to be able to be in charge of the Development Squad for this exciting move to Holmes Park. Myself and my assistant coach Ben Petty have seen the facilities firsthand and they are top-class.

“The players are tremendously fortunate to be able to play their football under such conditions and it can only help their development going forward. It has been a landmark year for us with our debut campaigns in the UEFA Youth League and the Football League Trophy – both of which have provided us with the opportunity to test our abilities at a new level.

“Our lads have acquitted themselves admirably against experienced, professional sides this season and both Ben and I, now we are ready to move into Holmes Park, are confident in their ability to continue that development over the coming years.”

TICKETS

Supporters wishing to attend Monday’s fixture can do so by purchasing their tickets from the City Fanstore at King Power Stadium until 4pm on the day.

Any remaining tickets will be sold from outside Holmes Park from 5.30pm on Monday evening*.
