Following Thursday's 2-0 victory over Leeds United at King Power Stadium, the Foxes head to Molineux on Sunday to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers. Speaking ahead of that trip to the West Midlands, Rodgers spoke to the media. Here's what he said. Wolves – Winning after winning
City have been here before, following the 4-0 success over Nottingham Forest, heading into an away match, hoping for another three points. That ended with a 2-1 reverse at AFC Bournemouth. Rodgers, though, hopes that recent memory will spur his players on to earn three points in Wolverhampton. "It’s going to be difficult, but we have to learn from that," the Northern Irishman said at King Power Stadium, speaking immediately after the win over Leeds. "We went into our next game and we played very well up until a point and then we conceded two poor goals.
"We’ve been reiterating since that the importance of having the desire to win and the importance of everyone collectively staying strong and staying together. You get no guarantees but if you can bring that mentality into the next game, you have a great chance of getting a result."
Wolves interim head coach Steve Davis will be in charge of the home side on Sunday and Rodgers is looking forward to meeting him.
"I remember Steve as a player," he added. "He was a very good centre-half and he managed down in Crewe. There’s lots of guys in the country who do great working with Under-21s and Under-18s. I believe he’s a boyhood supporter of Wolves, so they’ll be a great honour and a privilege for him to manage the club.
"I haven’t come across Steve so I look forward to meeting him at the weekend."
Barnes' form – City's flying winger
Harvey Barnes made it five goals in five fixtures against Leeds on Thursday, building on a promising run of recent form in Leicester's colours. Capped one-time for England, Rodgers hopes the Academy graduate can continue to earn plaudits with his performances for the Foxes. He explained: "He’s been great and he was up against a tough opponent (Rasmus Kristensen). I’ve seen the right-back for Leeds, he’s strong and he’s aggressive and he runs forward well. I thought Harvey was outstanding. He gets his goal and he’s in there and he’s a real catalyst for us.
"He can only keep performing and playing well and we’ll see where it takes him. He’s had some really good moments in games where he’s been excellent. Sometimes defensively, it’s not been as solid as we’d want it to be.
"Of course, then, that’s reflective on certain individuals, but he’s still a really important player for us when he’s on the top of his game. He’s a real handful, a real threat. Every English player will see [playing for England] as their ambition, but it’s about consistency at this level, at your club in the Premier League.
"The door can always, hopefully, open for you."
