Following a 3-1 victory over Barnsley and a 0-0 stalemate with Portsmouth, the Foxes are top of Group F with four points, one clear of the Toffees, who still have two matches to play.
Ahead of the clash at Merseyrail Community Stadium, here is everything you need to know…
Beaglehole’s joy
Following last Friday’s 2-0 win at Derby in Premier League 2, Beaglehole said: “I’m thrilled to bits, in all my time working in the youth set-up at this Club, that’s one of the most complete performances we’ve had.
“It was a masterclass from us. We were disappointed to drop two points against Sunderland. It’s been a fantastic first half to our season, we’re fighting fit on all fronts.
“We’re close to being certain of staying up, which is incredible considering where we’ve been in the final weeks of previous seasons.”
Last Toffees meeting
Josh Knight’s header was enough for the City Under-23s to earn a brilliant 1-0 away success over Premier League 2 champions Everton back in August.
The Foxes went to Merseyrail Community Stadium on the back of a frustrating opening day defeat by Manchester United, but recovered to seal victory over David Unsworth’s men.
City got their due reward for a promising start just before the interval when Layton Ndukwu curled a wonderful cross into the path of Knight to nod it beyond Louis Gray in the hosts’ net.
Choudhury makes league bow
“It’s a dream come true, really,” reflected Hamza Choudhury to LCFC TV, after making his Premier League debut on Tuesday night. “I can’t really put it into words right now, but I think it’ll sink in over the next couple of weeks what’s really happened tonight.
“Hopefully I’ll get a few more appearances this season. Most importantly, it was a good result for us. I was proud to make the bench, so when the gaffer told me to get ready, I was in shock.
“I still watch a lot of football and Tottenham have some top, top quality players. Sharing the pitch with them is an amazing feeling. I’ve just got to keep my feet on the ground and keep working hard to try and push for a place in the team.”
PL Cup journey so far
Before a 0-0 draw with Portsmouth at Holmes Park earlier this month, City collected a fifth win in six with a 3-1 success at Barnsley in the Premier League Cup back in October.
Magnificent strikes from Admiral Muskwe and Josh Gordon, on his 23rd birthday, bookended Matthew Wolfe's header in the first half before Muskwe then doubled his tally late on at Oakwell.
While initially procured to operate as a centre back, ex-Chester man Sam Hughes impressed in a defensive midfield role in Yorkshire, a role he has played in since for the Foxes too.
Everton in focus
The Toffees could have Unsworth back in charge of their Under-23s side for the visit of Leicester to Merseyrail Community Stadium after a spell in caretaker charge of the seniors.
Unsworth has taken charge of the Everton first team’s past five Premier League matches, winning two and drawing one.
With one win in their last four league matches, Everton's youngsters approach Friday’s clash on the back of a 0-0 draw with Manchester United, a result which denied them the chance to leapfrog City in Premier League 2.
