- LCFC Women face Manchester City in the Continental Tyres League Cup- The Group B fixture at Joie Stadium has a 7pm GMT kick-off- City drew 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend- All the information to follow the Foxes in Manchester can be found HERE
Off the back of a draw with Tottenham Hotspur, which saw Janice Cayman net her second for the Club, Leicester are on the road as they face Man City in their second Group B fixture in the League Cup.
Take a look into the current form of both teams and who Willie Kirk will be lining up against on the touchline...
The Foxes camp
The Foxes managed to break the run of bad form which saw them lose three Barclays Women's Super League games on the bounce with a 1-1 scoreline against Spurs at King Power Stadium just days ago, after a Cayman goal in the first half was cancelled out by Celin Bizet just after the break.
The draw sees City sit mid-table in the WSL with eight points to their name, as Belgium's most capped player scored her second goal in a week, after finding the net during defeat to Arsenal a week prior.
With a busy run of fixtures coming up for the Foxes, Kirk has admitted that there will be changes to the starting line-up, but will not being handing out minutes for free, and insisted that he will lead a team out capable of winning on Wednesday.
The opposition
Man City will head into the game still buzzing from the weekend, having dispatched their local rivals 3-1 at Old Trafford in the Manchester derby. Jill Roord, Lauren Hemp and Khadija Shaw, who has three goals in the WSL this term.
Currently third in the league, they have only lost twice this season, most recently when Brighton & Hove Albion caused an upset, beating the Citizens 1-0 at Joie Stadium; Geum-Min Lee scoring the only goal that day.
The hosts also boast an impressive record this campaign in the League Cup, winning both of their opening games against Everton and Liverpool and sit at the top of Group B with six points.
In the dugout
Former AFC Wrexham player Gareth Taylor has been the manager of Man City since May 2020, and has won both the Vitality Women's FA Cup, and the League Cup during his three year tenure with the club.
The Welshman took the Citizens to the final of this competition in March 2022, beating Chelsea 3-1 in the final at Plough Lane, as Caroline Weir scored twice and the Lionesses' all-time top goalscorer Ellen White found the net in the showpiece.
Last time out
The Foxes do not boast a good record against the Sky Blues, and will be looking for a first win against Man City on Wednesday night, having lost on three occasions to the Manchester outfit last season, coming closest when they were knocked out of the FA Cup through a last-minute winner from Filippa Angeldahl.
Kirk's side have already played Man City this term, when they welcomed them in the WSL at the end of October to Filbert Way. A spirited performance from Leicester, they were beaten by an early strike from England international winger Chloe Kelly.
