- LCFC Women welcome Arsenal to King Power Stadium this weekend- Sunday evening's fixture has a 6:45pm kick-off on Filbert Way- The Foxes have seven points so far in the Barclays Women's Super League- Tickets for the match against Arsenal can be found HERE
Leicester head back to King Power Stadium for only their second Barclays Women's Super League fixture of the season on home soil when they meet the Gunners, having most recently fallen to a narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool at Prenton Park last weekend.
As Willie Kirk's side look to get back to winning ways, here is a detailed look into both sides...
The Foxes camp
The Foxes started the 2023/24 campaign in impressive fashion, winning twice and drawing once before a first loss of 2023/24 against Manchester City. However, with a week off for international fixtures, it has been four weeks since they last picked up any points, when they earned a draw against Manchester United.
Beaten by Liverpool last time out, a late Marie Höbinger strike cancelled out a third Leicester City career goal for Missy Goodwin in the second half. Entering matchday six of the WSL season, they will be looking to use the advantage of the home crowd when they entertain Jonas Eidevall's side.
Kirk's side will be boosted with the imminent return of Dutch 'keeper Lize Kop and Australian striker Remy Siemsen. Both are yet to make an appearance so far this term having picked up injuries in the latter stages of pre-season.
The opposition
Arsenal started this season by losing 1-0 to Liverpool on the opening day at Emirates Stadium, but have since turned things around and head into this weekend with 10 points and a positive goal difference, sitting on the same points as second-placed Man City.
All of the Gunners' wins this season have come from 2-1 scorelines. First at home against struggling Aston Villa; Katie McCabe and Alessio Russo scoring injury time goals to take the points, before the Irish winger netted twice in a victory over Bristol City. The London outfit most recently defeated the Citizens at Meadow Park, as Stina Blackstenius scored a late winner to cancel out Chloe Kelly's equaliser.
In the dugout
Sweden-born Jonas Eidevall resides in the Arsenal dugout, having joined the club in 2021 after impressive stints with Lunds BK and FC Rosengård in his homeland, where he won the Damallsvenskan on three occasions - in 2013, 2014, and 2019. He also lifted the Swedish Cup during the 2017/18 season.
After replacing Joe Montemurro at the helm of the Gunners, Eidevall has implemented a high-paced possession game which has seen him win over 60 per cent of his games in charge, winning one trophy; the Continental Tyres League Cup last season, beating Chelsea 3-1 in the final at Selhurst Park.
Last time out
City don't hold a good record against the title-contenders, losing on both occasions last season. A 4-0 scoreline at home saw four different goalscorers find the net on Filbert Way; Frida Maanum, Caitlin Foord, Steph Catley and Blackstenius.
In the reverse fixture, it was a much closer affair, taking a wonderstrike from Maanum to dispatch a resilient Foxes side, who by that point were getting to grips with Kirk's aggressive style of football. Janina Leitzig had saved a first half penalty from McCabe.
