- Leicester City were beaten 3-1 by Liverpool in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday- Ricardo Pereira saw positives in the defeat at Anfield- The former FC Porto full-back says attention now turns to Blackburn Rovers
Although not the result which City desired, taking the lead at Anfield was a plus point for the visitors, with Kasey McAteer opening the scoring inside three minutes.
Goals from Cody Gakpo, Dominik Szoboszlai and Diogo Jota settled it for the Premier League outfit in the second half, but the Foxes remained true to their ideas, attempting to play out from the back throughout.
"It’s very difficult to play here," Portugal international Ricardo said. "We knew that before. The way we played, we tried to play from the back and had some successful plays. There were some good plays against a really tough opponent.
"We knew they would come after us in the second half. We knew that, but unfortunately they have a lot of quality.
"It wasn’t the best moment to [concede] a goal (for the equaliser). Even if we’re out of the competition, I think we have some positives to take. If you want to improve, you have to keep trying, even if sometimes you make a mistake here or there.
"It’s a learning process. We’re still learning. We had like three months of the season with this way of playing. Coming here and trying to play, it shows how brave we are."
It's a return to Sky Bet Championship duties for table-topping Leicester on Sunday with a visit to 14th-placed Blackburn Rovers, who mounted a sustained promotion push last term.
The Lancashire side also defeated City in the Emirates FA Cup, so Enzo Maresca's men will anticipate another testing outing at Ewood Park. Preparations begin now for that clash with Jon Dahl Tomasson's Rovers, Ricardo says.
"It’s a quick turnaround," he added. "Now it’s about resting and preparing the next game to keep winning. [The schedule is] not that different. We’re used to that. It’s just managing the squad and making sure we’re ready for the game."
