- Brendan Rodgers discusses Leicester City's match preparation following a busy but successful week for his side- The Foxes won three times in just seven days, beating Leeds United, SC Braga and Wolverhampton Wanderers- Jamie Vardy’s penalty secured a 1-0 Premier League success over Wolves on Sunday
City’s sixth-straight victory in all competitions saw them end the weekend top of the Premier League table, with Jamie Vardy’s first-half penalty enough to seal the points in an end-to-end showdown at King Power Stadium. After beating Leeds United 4-1 in the Premier League on Monday, City recorded their biggest-ever win in Europe on Thursday – a 4-0 success over SC Braga – before the 1-0 win against Wolves rounded off a hugely successful week for the Football Club. When asked about his side’s preparations, Rodgers said: “If you think, we played Monday night and then we come back in on Tuesday to recover, so the players that have played are doing two days' recovery - Tuesday, Wednesday. “The day before the game, Wednesday, we do a tactical preparation, so you can't have too much physicality in that session.
“But you can walk the players through on the field, the intention of the game and then obviously play Thursday, recover Friday, Saturday and then play a really tough game today and yesterday again, that tactical preparation.
“You're obviously doing a lot of work on video on that analysis side and, like I say walking through things on the field as opposed to playing at a really big intensity and then trying to conserve energy for the game.”
Several first team starts will now report for international duty, while Rodgers says those not involved for their nations will be afforded some downtime before City begin preparations for their Premier League trip to Liverpool on Saturday 21 November (3pm GMT kick-off). “The guys that aren't going to go away will have a few days to recover, go away,” Rodgers said. “It just breaks the cycle.
“[They can] be with their families and the players will go away internationally and then we'll all reconvene the following week.”
