- Leicester City must improve their home form in 2020/21, says manager Brendan Rodgers- The Northern Irishman spoke after Sunday’s superb 2-0 Premier League win at Tottenham Hotspur- Rodgers was thrilled to welcome back Timothy Castagne, who he felt was ‘excellent’ in north London
The Foxes claimed all three points from the showdown in north London as Toby Alderweireld’s own goal added to Jamie Vardy’s first-half penalty.
Now, Rodgers is hoping his side can improve their results at King Power Stadium, starting with the visit of Manchester United on Boxing Day, the Northern Irishman believes his outfit can be proud of the way they have navigated a tricky fixture schedule with multiple injuries.
“We need to improve our home form and the consistency in that,” Rodgers told LCFC TV after Sunday’s 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“But I think everyone is looking for that consistency this season. For me, I’m very satisfied with where we are in this moment.
“We know we’ve got players coming back, Timothy Castagne today coming back was great. Wilf Ndidi was able to get back into midfield again after playing at centre-half during the week, so yes, it was a very, very good performance.”
One man who returned to action on Sunday was Belgium full-back Timothy Castagne, whose planned substitution on the hour mark saw him feature for the first time since late October.
“That was the plan,” Rodgers said of the change which saw Daniel Amartey – also returning from an injury – replace Castagne.
“We couldn’t risk it any longer than the 60 minutes, but you see when you have players of quality in the team what it gives the team. I thought he was excellent.”
