- Leicester City booked a 3-1 success over Liverpool at King Power Stadium on Saturday- Goals from James Maddison, Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes completed a seven-minute comeback- Brendan Rodgers was impressed with how the Foxes settled after going behind to Mo Salah's effort- The Northern Irishman also comments on Harvey Barnes and Kasper Schmeichel
After Mo Salah put the Reds in front shortly after the hour-mark, Jürgen Klopp's champions looked to deny City a route back into the contest, a plan which initially appeared to be working.
However, the match hinged on two VAR calls as the Foxes were first denied a penalty after Harvey Barnes was felled by Thiago Alcântara on the edge of the area.
In the following phase of play, a goal was awarded despite the flag being raised as James Maddison's free-kick evaded everyone in the area and Daniel Amartey was adjudged to have been onside.
That ultimately set Leicester up to claim a famous victory, as Jamie Vardy and Barnes wrapped up the points to send City up into second place in the Premier League standings.
Speaking at full-time, Rodgers backed the initial decision to only award City a free-kick, while praising his side with the way they pressed forwards in the game to secure a 14th league win of the season.
"Of course, you want them to go your way," the Northern Irishman said, discussing the nervous wait for VAR decisions to be confirmed. "It looked a penalty, but when you see it back, it was probably the right decision. The guy (Thiago) is just outside the box.
"It was nice to get the equaliser and, once we got that, it settled us back down again and then we played very well after that."
Barnes, meanwhile, concluded the scoring on Filbert Way with a typically composed finish - the Academy graduate's 12th goal in all competitions this term.
"He’s a sensational player," Rodgers told LCFC TV. "He’s so direct. His speed, his running power… when he’s away, he has massive composure when he gets there to make the finish. He’s such a threat and he’s developing all the time."
Following goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel's 100th consecutive Premier League appearance, meanwhile, the 48-year-old added: "He’s one of Europe’s top ‘keepers.
"He's super reliable, and I'm very, very happy that he’s our goalkeeper."
