- Brendan Rodgers lauds Jamie Vardy’s goal threat after he netted in the 2-0 triumph against Crystal Palace- Vardy’s 10th goal of the 2019/20 Premier League season came late on at Selhurst Park- Rodgers says Vardy combined well with Demarai Gray to round off the scoring
The Club’s all-time top goalscorer in the Premier League was denied by Palace shot-stopper Vicente Guaita in the first half, before Çağlar Söyüncü broke the deadlock with a header on 57 minutes.
Vardy, after a brilliant piece of link-up play with substitute Demarai Gray, then doubled Leicester’s advantage, taking his Premier League tally to 10 goals in 11 appearances in 2019/20.
“I’m so lucky to have him,” Rodgers said of the City No.9. “He’s a top striker at this level and he’s always a threat.
“He was unlucky a few times, he looked like he was going to get in and he went close in the first half.
“He had a couple of opportunities where he’s nearly away and the guy (James Tomkins) made the foul and then he scores a wonderful goal with great composure.
“It was lovely play by Demarai [Gray] – his weight of pass allows him to finish after the nice combination play and then it was just the case of seeing the game out.”
The victory at Selhurst Park will be analysed by Tony Cottee, Matt Elliott and Iwan Roberts at 6pm GMT on Monday on the latest episode of Extra-Time.
