- Leicester City won 2-0 against Arsenal at King Power Stadium on Saturday- Brendan Rodgers' men are now up to second in the Premier League- The Northern Irishman hailed the effort of the whole team in the victory
Second-half goals from Jamie Vardy and James Maddison sent the Foxes to victory - their fifth win in a row - which fired them up to second in the Premier League. Reflecting on their eighth win in 12 this season, Rodgers told LCFC TV: "I’ve got players with a really high level of technique and invention.
"That was wonderful play (for City's first goal) and then Jamie Vardy does what he does. It was a superb finish and he took the goal really well.
"It’s important for us. We felt we were unfortunate to lose the Liverpool game before the last international break, but it shows you the mentality of the team.
"It’s very positive, it’s aggressive and to have that reaction shows we’re developing our mentality. It’s very, very important.
"We’ve got really good players, but we’ve got a real strong mentality now and we show a lot of courage in our game, so very pleasing."
Rodgers was pleased with the overall performance of the team in general and singled out his defensive players for praise during his full-time assessment.
"It’s the team," the Northern Irishman continued. "I thought the two centre-halves were brilliant, Jonny [Evans] was outstanding in the game. "I thought right the way through the middle of our team… Kasper Schmeichel was really clean on a really difficult day for goalkeepers. "He made two passes that he misplaced, but apart from that, he was outstanding.
"Jonny Evans and Çağs (Çağlar Söyüncü) through the middle, Wilfred Ndidi breaking the game up, and Jamie Vardy. "Right through that spine of the team, it was very strong and then the players around that, all collectively pressing, working, running."
