Vardy is the Football Club’s leading Premier League goalscorer, with 99 to his name, and currently tops the division’s charts in 2019/20 after netting 19 goals in 26 appearances.
His second hat-trick for the Foxes came in the emphatic, record-breaking 9-0 win at Southampton in October, but it is his first treble where we pick up where we left off.

Having already scored twice in 18 first half minutes against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, Vardy completed his maiden hat-trick for the Club in typical instinctive style. Vardy intercepted a back pass from John Stones, before shimmying past Claudio Bravo and rolling the ball over the line, via the post, from the tightest of angles. After confirmation of the goal, thanks to goal line technology, Vardy invited his team-mates over to the corner of the pitch to celebrate City taking a stunning 4-0 lead.

After Craig Shakespeare was named as the Club’s interim manager following the departure of Claudio Ranieri, his first challenge action was to guide Leicester City to a 3-1 victory over Liverpool on Filbert Way. Vardy scored twice that evening, including his first Premier League goal of 2017 to open the scoring. He latched onto Marc Albrighton’s brilliant pass and beat Simon Mignolet before wheeling away, both fists clenched, in an expression of delight. His second of the game, a header, made it 3-0, as City moved out of the relegation zone.

During Shakespeare’s first match as permanent City manager, his side fell to a 4-3 defeat by Arsenal, but the spirit they displayed was on show in London – as was Vardy’s goalscoring prowess. The City No.9 bagged a brace at Emirates Stadium, with his second – a header – putting his side into a 3-2 lead before Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud scored late on to win it for the hosts.

Frenchman Claude Puel’s first game in charge of the Foxes resulted in a 2-0 victory over Everton, with Vardy scoring Leicester’s first at King Power Stadium. A superb run from Demarai Gray saw him find Riyad Mahrez, who delivered back across the face of goal into the path of Vardy, whose close-range finish sent City on their way to a maiden win under Puel.

Perhaps one of Vardy’s best goals in Leicester City colours came in late November 2017 against Tottenham Hotspur. Combining once again with Albrighton, Vardy’s excellent, first-time lob over Hugo Lloris came after just 13 minutes, while Mahrez made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time as Leicester secured a 2-1 success against Spurs.

Another Vardy stunner arrived in March 2018 at the Hawthorns, where he netted for a fourth-straight game for the Foxes. His first-time volley from a Mahrez pass earned him the Premier League Goal of the Month award, while he picked up Leicester City’s Goal of the Season award for 2017/18, as voted for by the Blue Army.

The Foxes’ first Premier League victory over Arsenal since 1994 saw Vardy on target from the spot in a convincing 3-1 success on Filbert Way. Kelechi Iheanacho had earlier given City the lead, only for his goal to be cancelled out by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but Vardy’s spot-kick 14 minutes from time and Mahrez’s 90th-minute effort won it for the hosts against the 10-man Gunners.

City’s final match of the 2017/18 season produced a nine-goal thriller, with Vardy scoring twice in the capital. His second of the afternoon saw him break the offside trap before rifling an unstoppable left-footed effort into the roof of the net past Lloris. It proved to be Vardy’s 20th Premier League goal of the campaign, and while he made it 4-4, Tottenham claimed all three points thanks to Harry Kane.

City’s 1-1 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion in November 2018 came courtesy of Vardy’s penalty in the pouring rain on the south coast. After James Maddison’s dismissal, Vardy cancelled out Glenn Murray’s early strike to secure a point before showing his emotion by celebrating wildly in front of the travelling Foxes fans.
