Vardy – who has scored 10 goals in all competitions so far this season – has been nominated for his strike in City’s 4-1 win against Leeds United at Elland Road. The 33-year-old finished Cengiz Ünder’s lifted pass over the onrushing goalkeeper, after the Turkish international benefitted from a sublime touch and through-ball by James Maddison. Vardy faces competition Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and Danny Ings, Fulham’s Ola Aina, Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Solly March, Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez and Leeds United’s Raphinha.
Voting opens at 1pm on Friday 4 December, with the winner to be announced at 1pm on Friday 11 December.
