After a busy period of fixtures which saw Leicester draw with Tottenham Hotspur before beating Manchester City on penalties in the Continental Tyres League Cup, the Foxes returned to league action for the trip to Kingsmeadow. Two goals down in under five minutes, Leicester turned things around to a narrow 3-2 scoreline at the break. Explaining her thoughts on the eventual defeat, goalscorer Rantala believes that better is to come from her side. “The start of the game was pretty tough,” the forward stated in her post-match interview. “They scored two early goals, but we did well to come back.
“We scored twice, and it looked good at half-time, but overall it wasn’t a good enough performance and we can do better.”
City's No.8 scored in the first half at Kingsmeadow as she took her goal tally to three, with the other two coming on the opening day against Bristol City since joining the Club this summer. She was delighted to get on the scoresheet but continued to look at the bigger picture; talking about the team’s ability to score against the league’s best this term, having netted in every game bar one in all competitions.
“It’s always nice to score but hopefully there are many more to come,” the 24-year-old voiced. “But the most important thing is to help the team.
“We’re scoring against these top teams like Chelsea, which is good and shows that we can challenge them and score against them.”
