- Brendan Rodgers lauded the work of Harvey Barnes and Demarai Gray on Saturday- The wide players helped create two goals, as City beat Burnley 2-1- Strikes from Jamie Vardy and Youri Tielemans sealed all three points for the Foxes
Academy graduate Barnes, 21, claimed two assists in the victory at King Power Stadium, while substitute Gray made a significant impact after replacing Ayoze Pérez. Barnes’ cross from the left first set up Jamie Vardy for City’s leveller, before the Leicester No.15 flicked Gray’s delivery into the path of Youri Tielemans, who hit the winner on Filbert Way. “We didn’t play well in the first half,” said Rodgers. “It was too passive without the ball and then not aggressive enough when we had it.
“[For the first goal], it was a wonderful piece of skill by Harvey [Barnes], who gets the cross in from a wide, deep area, and then Jamie had an incredible leap to get up and score and we needed that.
“We said at half-time that we needed to be much better, we needed to be more aggressive than what we showed. We were tip-toeing around the game at times thinking we didn’t need to make tackles and be aggressive.
“You won’t win football matches like that, so we were much better in the second half. We were in their half for a lot of the game creating chances, and then we obviously got the second goal, which was a wonderful cross by Demarai [Gray].
“Youri [Tielemans] had a wonderful touch and finish, so then from that, you then need to make sure you win the game. The players did that.”
