  • Abdul Fatawu reflects on his magnificent 70-yard strike against Ipswich Town
  • Leicester City were 3-1 winners over the Tractor Boys, with Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Jordan Ayew also on the scoresheet
  • It’s a goal which brings back memories of Peter Shilton and Joey Guðjónsson
  • Fatawu was delighted to contribute with the ‘best goal’ he’s ever scored
It’s now seven points from a possible nine for Leicester City after the win at Derby County and draw at Bristol City, with Fatawu’s goal coming between a superlative strike of his own from Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Jordan Ayew’s second goal in two games.
Goals from such a distance are rare for any team – Peter Shilton and Joey Guðjónsson come to mind in Foxes folklore – and Fatawu’s instantly goes into the history books.

“It’s amazing!” our No.7 said afterwards. "I feel so good about it and I’ve been trying to get it. I was so happy today that it went in, and I just feel happy. This is the best one I’ve ever scored!
“We’ll just keep going. I hope for more goals and more wins so that we can get to where we want to be.”
Fatawu has tried it before, at Swansea City earlier this term, while he’s also often found perfecting it in training – something which sometimes irks his team-mates. Perhaps now, though, they’ll understand, the Ghanian joked.

“I always have problems with my team-mates trying it!” he added. “Sometimes when you try it and it doesn’t go well, it feels like you’ve lost the ball for no reason. But I feel good that it went in and next time they will know what I’m trying to do.
“It’s just about the team. I feel good because we were running for each other. Everyone was ready to give their all for the team and that’s what we want.
“It’s good that everyone is ready. We know where we want to be and we’re going to keep on working hard to get to where we want.”
