Third round weekend provides a home tie against Queens Park Rangers for the Foxes and an opportunity to progress in the prestigious competition amid a key juncture in the Premier League season.
With a victory on home soil likely to breed confidence within the squad, Thomas is targeting no less than that at King Power Stadium on Saturday, as they look to put a testing period of results behind them.
“The FA Cup has always been a really good, exciting competition,” the defender reflected. “It’s a special one for us, obviously with the history of us winning it a few years ago, so hopefully we can go into this one and get through the [third] round and then go far in it.

“We’ve had a tough run of fixtures through the Christmas period. It’s always a tough time and with the games we’ve had recently – Man City, Liverpool and Villa – they are games which are always going to be hard.
“When a new Manager comes in, those first few weeks are getting to know what he wants us to do and now we’re getting to grips with that, it will show in games and results will come.
“We’ve got a good mentality in the squad. Everyone gets on really well. In games, we have shown spells where we have been good. If we just tidy up a bit and make sure we show that throughout a whole 90 minutes, we can pick up results from that. And in this cup game, hopefully we can play well and get a good result.”
Lifting the trophy in 2021 will always remain a cherished memory for the full-back, who played the pass that led to Youri Tielemans’ winning goal against Chelsea on that memorable day at Wembley Stadium. Focus right now, however, must be on securing success on Saturday, though he believes the group can take inspiration from that historic cup triumph.

“You don’t get time in football,” the 23-year-old admitted. “It’s week in, week out and you have a game every few days. It doesn’t come into your mind until the summer has come and then you look back on how your season has gone and how your career is going as you develop season upon season.
“Before you know it, it (your career) is probably over. At times, you do look back at it and think that was a proud moment. It was definitely a special day.
“I’m not sure I’d class it as [an assist] with Youri [Tielemans] putting it into the top bins from 30 yards, but I can always take it, and I guess it’s a good thing to have.
“That year we were full of confidence that we went into each game and we knew we could beat anyone that came our way and on that day at Wembley it went our way and we got the result so hopefully we can kick on and do that again.”
