We take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday (2pm GMT kick-off)
Bobby De Cordova-Reid has explained what Leicester City must get right in the capital
He also discussed the importance of experience and being focused on the job at hand – remaining in the Premier League
Leicester City are due in west London to take on Chelsea knowing time is of the essence to earn the points which will enable us to remain in the top flight. An away game against the UEFA Champions League-chasing Blues is a daunting challenge for a side currently sat 19th in the table, but De Cordova-Reid is adamant that City have the ability to pick up a positive result. “Every game’s tough in the Premier League,” the Jamaica international said. “They don’t come much tougher than Chelsea. They’ll have quite a lot of the ball, so we have to be resilient in our shape.
“We have to work hard and fight for each other and take our chances when they come. You have to be ruthless in both boxes. They’re a very good team.
“We understand they’ve got good players, so do we. We’ll have to work harder than them. We won’t have the ball as much as them, so we’ve got to be diligent in our press and our defensive shape to get something out of the game.
“I look around the dressing room and we’ve got great players. We just need to put it all together, find a way of winning games, and stick to that way.”
De Cordova-Reid, 32, is hoping to use his experience to help the team overcome the obstacles in front of them – both on the field but also on a day-to-day basis.
“I’ve just got to show my experience by doing the right things,” he added. “Understanding certain moments in the game, high pressure from other teams, and just feeling the game out. We’ve got to mix it up and be ruthless in both boxes.
“I’ve been in situations where I know what it takes to get out this situation. At the same time, I’ve been relegated before, and it’s not a nice feeling.
“I don’t want it to happen again, so we have to rally around each other, as a collective, the whole Club, to get ourselves out of this situation.
“We understand where we’re at. There’s a few of us (other teams at the bottom) in that position. I personally feel, how it is now, it won’t end like that.
“There will be changes, where we get out, go back in… it’ll happen like that. But we’ve got to understand what it takes – and do whatever it takes – to win games, whether it’s pretty or not, to stay in the Premier League.”
