Stephy Mavididi has previewed Saturday’s trip to Birmingham City
Leicester City are 20th in the Sky Bet Championship ahead of the match
Mavididi has called for unity and togetherness in the group
He stresses that everyone is working hard in training to put things right
Following the decision of an Independent Commission on Thursday, Leicester City have immediately been deducted six points, leaving us 20th in the table, ahead of a challenging visit to St. Andrew’s on Saturday (3:01pm GMT kick-off). With form in need of swift improvement as well, Mavididi has called for togetherness in the group, while also providing an insight into how our new signings have settled in. “We’re excited,” the No.10 said this week, first previewing the test against Chris Davies’ Blues. “It’s a local game. Obviously, we’ve had a week to prepare and, off the back of our last game (a 2-0 home defeat to Charlton), we were disappointed, so we want to put things right.
A first session for our new January recruits, as we build up to Saturday's clash with Birmingham City.
“[We want to] win as many games as possible and let the rest take care of itself. There’s been a few games where we’ve missed out on three points by fine margins.
“It’s why we come into training every day, to rectify that, and turn the wrongs into rights. That’s what we work on every day. We want to go there with a positive mindset, be confident, and hopefully we come away with a victory.”
Without a league win since the 2-1 success over West Bromwich Albion on 5 January, and with First Team Coach Andy King overseeing games, while the Club continues the process of appointing a new permanent Manager, Mavididi has called for unity.
The additions of Jamaal Lascelles, Divine Mukasa, Joe Aribo and Dujuan Richards, meanwhile, have also introduced fresh impetus to the squad following their deadline day moves.
“It’s been a tough season for everyone at the Club, but we’ve just got to stick together,” he added. “It’s only us that can change the situation and that’s what we’ve been working on.
“We’ve got a talented group of lads here and we can really change the outcome of the season. We come into training every day to rectify that and put things right.
“Everyone’s fully committed and we’re all ready for the challenge. We’ve got [King] now, new voices. We’ve obviously got new signings as well which has uplifted the standard. You can see it in training in the last couple of days and we’re ready just to attack Saturday and try and put things right.
“[The new signings] have all been top. They’re good lads as well and they’re all talented. Everyone brings their own qualities, which is good to add to the talented bunch we have here. They’ve settled in well. Everyone’s all onboard and on the same page to try and put things right.”
