  • We were beaten 2-1 at Birmingham City on Saturday
  • Oliver Skipp is looking for a quick response against Southampton at King Power Stadium on Tuesday
  • Speaking in Birmingham, he said we can’t ‘keep shooting ourselves in the foot’ after we went behind early before having a man sent off
  • He is hopeful a reaction against the Saints, with new faces now through the door
Leicester City welcome the Saints to King Power Stadium for a 7:45pm GMT kick-off on the back of three successive defeats, as well as a six-point deduction, confirmed last week.
Ibrahim Osman’s third-minute opener was levelled by Abdul Fatawu, before Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s red card left us playing with 10 men for over an hour. Jay Stansfield’s 67th-minute strike settled the contest at St. Andrew’s at Knighthead Park.
That result leaves us 21st in the Sky Bet Championship, outside the bottom three on goal difference.
“It’s disappointment, but we know there’s a game around the corner,” Skipp said, when asked for his immediate reaction at full-time. “We’ve got a chance to put that right. We’ve had knock-backs from the start. Today, actually, we reacted well to the situation.

“We got a goal back with Abdul and then then it’s another kick in the teeth with the red card. The lads the stuck together, but ultimately, you can’t keep shooting yourself in the foot like that and expect to come away with results.
“It's never easy (going down to 10 men). I don’t think they created too many chances when we were down to 10, but there’s always a chance, with the overload, that they can hurt us.
“They did that, so ultimately, we’ve lost another game of football. Regardless of the circumstances, we can’t look past that, so there’s disappointment in that changing room from everyone.
“It was really difficult. We changed shape at half-time and I felt that helped us get out to their wide players much better, to try and stop crosses.
“Always, when you’re down to 10 men, you’re going to be relying on a couple of moments on the counter-attack, maybe set-pieces.
“We didn’t created too much, but there was always the chance if we stayed in the game, that potentially we could take something from the game.”

Jamaal Lascelles and Joe Aribo made their debuts for the Foxes on Saturday, with Divine Mukasa and Dujuan Richards coming off the bench. The addition of fresh faces has been a positive, Skipp says, but he also admits City need to start practise what they are preaching and put points on the board to climb away from the bottom three.
“It's nice to have some new bodies, some freshness, some players that have been in situations like this before,” he added. “[Some of them] know the league and have experienced many things. They’re welcome additions. The young players as well, they can bring some energy to the team, and some fearlessness that we need.
“Everyone’s going to be important in that dressing room because this situation isn’t going anywhere. We’ve got 15 games to put that right.
“I know we keep saying that but the reality is that’s all we can do. Everyone’s probably sick of us saying it, but that’s the reality – we need to pick up points and get moving up the table. We can’t look for any excuses because we’ve put ourselves in this situation and we need to move up that table for sure.”
