LCFC Women were beaten 4-0 by Manchester City on Sunday
Khadija Shaw, Jess Park and Mary Fowler were the scorers at Joie Stadium
Janice Cayman shared her thoughts on the game and looks ahead to Birmingham City
Last weekend saw the Foxes fall to a resounding defeat at the hands of Man City at Joie Stadium, conceding twice in either half, keeping them on five points in the Barclays Women’s Super League. Admitting that Leicester will have to learn from Sunday’s loss, Cayman understands more has to be done to enable the team to compete against the best. “I think it was a tough day for us today,” Cayman said. “City came out and were on point; it was tough for us today. We need to keep working to be solid defensively and then when we get chances to go for it and try to score.
“But it’s a learning and a process and we need to focus on the next game.
Losing out to Man City at Joie Stadium.
"After their first goal we decided to go more forward and maybe we should’ve done this from the start. We know the qualities of City and unfortunately it was too much for us today.
“Last season, we had the same struggle so we need to keep believing in our qualities and each other and at some point, it will turn.”
Looking ahead to a final couple of fixtures before the Christmas break, City’s focus now switches to the Women’s League Cup when they face Birmingham City on Wednesday evening at Meadow Lane (7pm GMT kick-off).
A win against the Blues, and positive results elsewhere, would see the Foxes progress to the knockout stages which the Belgium international believes must be the aim.
Beating the Blues in the FA Cup.
Cayman continued: “That’s the goal, to win against Birmingham and hope that Brighton loses some points so that we can continue in the cup, but they will be a good side, and are doing well in the Championship.
“It’s another good test to see where we are and hopefully, we can get some confidence to build for the Chelsea game.
“We played them last year in the FA Cup and it wasn’t always easy so I think they are a better team since then so we will have to be at our best.
“It will be great for the team to have some positives so hopefully we can do well in the cup and can then look ahead to the other games afterwards.”
