Leicester City will be ball no.26 in Monday night’s fourth-round draw
Mavididi hit Leicester City’s second goal at The EV Charger Points Stadium, following Patson Daka’s opener, as we booked our spot in the fourth-round draw. With 53 places between the two sides in the pyramid at kick-off, there was naturally pressure on the Foxes to make sure we avoided a cup upset in Gloucestershire, but a much-changed XI delivered the performance required to seal safe passage.
“We know it’s a difficult place to come and with the cup’s history, we knew we had to come here and do the job and that’s what the boys did,” goalscorer Mavididi said.
“We’re happy to go through to the next round. It was a good performance. We knew what to expect. We knew we had a job here to do and that’s what the boys did so credit to the team. Like I said, we’re happy to go through to the next round.”
On his goal, City’s No.10 added: “When I picked it up in the position I was in, I just had one thing in mind to be honest. That was to go for goal and I thank God that it went in.
“I’m just happy. Obviously, it’s always nice to score. You just look onto the next game and try and carry on the momentum. It was crucial. We went into half-time and we said we wanted to keep a clean sheet, which we did, and we got the victory in the end.”
