LCFC Legends beat an All Star XI 4-2 on spot-kicks on Saturday afternoon
Foxes favourite Christian Fuchs scored the winning penalty at King Power Stadium
The game, raising funds for the VS Foundation, had ended 0-0 in normal time
Fuchs was delighted to be involved in the 10-year Premier League title-win anniversary
The former Foxes full-back was part of the LCFC Legends team which defeated an All Star XI 4-2 on penalties, with the 40-year-old starting the match at left-back and converting the winning spot-kick on Filbert Way, following two penalty saves from Conrad Logan.
The Austrian had gone close to breaking the deadlock himself during the 90 minutes but there was no way through for either side and it was left down to Fuchs to find the net from 12 yards to seal victory over Tony Pulis’ visitors.
Speaking during the post-match lap of appreciation around the pitch, he commented: “During the game, because nobody scored a goal, it looks horrible when it’s a 0-0! But we got the penalty shootout done and with the last penalty, that was all very casual, it was calmly done.”
Full of praise for the efforts of the Blue Army to support the work of the VS Foundation, with the match raising funds for the charity and Leicester City in the Community, Fuchs outlined his delight at being a part of the day, which celebrated the 10-year anniversary of our 15/16 Premier League title win.
“It’s been phenomenal,” the ex-Leicester defender beamed. “To see the crowd turning up, to be here with us, the turnout just shows that that everybody cares about the Club and that’s what is needed as well.
“For us it’s a great experience again. We haven’t been here for such a long time and so to be here and see the supporters, it was incredible. It felt really good.
“Every charity is worthy but the Vichai [Srivaddhanaprabha] Foundation is a really great charity and we’re really supporting a good cause.”
