  • LOROS Hospice are raising funds for their counselling service
  • The service ensures patients and families receive emotional and psychological care

  • For example, to donate £5 text LOROS5 to 70480
For years, LOROS has provided compassionate end-of-life care for thousands of people across Leicestershire and Rutland, but there’s an essential part of their work that many may not know about: their counselling service.
This crucial support system ensures that both patients and their families receive the emotional and psychological care they need during some of life’s most challenging moments.
LOROS Counselling
LOROS isn’t just about helping people in their final days; the Hospice ensures patients can live fully and meaningfully until the very end.
Their counselling service is a cornerstone of this mission, providing vital mental health support to individuals aged 6 to 96. Delivered by specialists and trained volunteers, this service offers a range of support options:
  • One-to-one and group sessions
  • Face-to-face and telephone support
  • In-Hospice and community-based counselling
With 1,500 counselling appointments delivered each year - including 400 for children and young people - LOROS is making a profound difference in people’s lives.
But this service comes at a cost, with 80 per cent of funds needed to be raised through donations, meaning the generosity of supporters is crucial.
LOROS
What Is Counselling?
Counselling is a contracted, professional relationship between a counsellor and client. Counselling can provide a space to talk about your experiences, which may enable you to find new ways of coping. Feelings of sadness, uncertainty, loneliness and bewilderment can make it difficult to deal with everyday life. LOROS offer a safe and non-judgemental environment for you to explore your feelings.
Counselling is an individual experience, and counsellors take the time to build a rapport and begin to recognise and validate the emotions that are being felt and find a way for growth and change to happen without expectation, but with knowledge and understanding of bereavement and complex grief.
This can be a challenging and powerful process, but it does enable space to grieve and learn about the existential process of grief and bereavement.
How LCFC Fans Have Already Made an Impact
Through the generosity of our Season Ticket Holders, enough money has already been raised to fund LOROS’ counselling service for three months.
But the challenge remains: securing the funds needed for the remaining nine months of the year.
If everyone at King Power Stadium donated just £5 on Sunday, LOROS would raise enough to fully fund the service for an entire year - ensuring that no patient or family member has to face these challenges alone.
How You Can Help?
Throughout March, Leicester City fans can continue to support this life-changing service by making a donation.
Every contribution, no matter how small, helps provide free counselling to those in need during the most difficult times of their lives.
Together, we can ensure LOROS continues to be there for those who need it most - today, tomorrow, and always.
HOW TO SUPPORT LOROS
Donate: Did you know LOROS need to raise more than £9M of voluntary income each year to continue to provide services to patients, their families and carers?
So, whether you’re attending our dedicated matchday at King Power Stadium or simply looking to support LOROS from home, every donation goes directly towards their efforts in providing free, high-quality, compassionate care and support to more than 2,600 terminally ill adult patients across Leicestershire and Rutland.
Text LOROS plus the amount you wish to donate to 70480. For example, to donate £5 text LOROS5 to 70480. Please note texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message.
Volunteer: Volunteers are an important part of daily life at LOROS. The Hospice relies on a team of around 1,300 volunteers who give up their time to help with a wide range of tasks.
The Hospice has a variety of rewarding volunteer roles available in their shops, lottery department and at events. If you can offer some time, whether weekly, fortnightly or monthly, they would love to hear from you.

Events: From 100-mile bike rides to bake sales and everything in between, whether it’s a LOROS headline event or a community project - you’re sure to have a great time and get that ‘feel good’ feeling!
