We put three points on board in Sky Bet League One at the weekend, beating Stockport at Edgeley Park following a topsy-turvy encounter which included goals from Liam Cullen, John Lundstram and Riis’ brace.

Oliver Norwood and Kyle Wootton reduced the Hatters’ deficit to one, but we battled to hold the lead late on and after our maiden away success of 26/27, now aim to build towards back-to-back league victories for the first time this term, with a trip to Oakwell on the horizon this Saturday (12:30pm kick-off).

“It was awfully too close in the end, but we dug deep and fought well,” Riis told us after a hard-fought triumph. “It was a great three points, it feels good. At 4-1, you’d just like to cruise it home, but they got two goals back.

“We showed everything that we didn’t show last week - fighting for each other, clearing the ball, winning second balls. That’s what we needed last week and we really showed that when we were under pressure at the end.

“I think we did a lot of good things and obviously there’s still a lot to work on, but we did really well in some parts of the game. If we can keep them [going] and improve on some other things, then we’re looking good.”

Notching his first two goals in a Leicester City shirt, the 28-year-old is keen to continue that trend having shown the travelling Blue Army what he is all about with those two clinical finishes.

“Obviously, the first one is always nice,” the Danish forward explained. “To get the first goal for the Club is an amazing feeling.

“The second one is probably the better one but I’m going to have to pick the first one. It was bouncing and I’ve seen him come out so it was an easy chip. It made up my mind to do what I wanted to.

“I trust myself from any angle, in the box and outside the box. When I see the goal, I’m going to shoot. It was good to see that creep in.

“There was a lot of support today from the fans. It was great to score a couple of goals in front of them and celebrate with them, that’s what we want.”
