Switching focus to the FA Cup, following a loss on Merseyside to Everton, City prepare for action in Manchester against the three-time winners of the competition.

A competition we favoured well in last year, Amandine Miquel will be hoping that a win over tough opponents Man City will put them in good stead to recreate that feat.

Foxes camp

Leicester lost out to Everton last weekend.

Leicester have had a mixed start to 2025, with two home wins and two losses on their travels, which most recently saw Shannon O'Brien score in a 4-1 defeat to Everton at Walton Hall Park.

Prior to that, Leicester picked up a win against Liverpool at King Power Stadium, leaving us three points above bottom-placed Crystal Palace.

With the transfer window now closed, Miquel has strengthened her side with two new forwards; Hlín Eiríksdóttir, who made her debut against the Toffees, and 18-year-old prodigy Karla Torres.

Currently fourth in the Barclays Women's Super League, the Citizens are having a somewhat frustrating season compared to previous, as they sit 12 points behind leaders Chelsea, and five behind their Manchester rivals in second.

Last weekend's 4-3 loss to Arsenal, in which Mary Fowler scored a brace, was their second WSL defeat in three games, after Ella Toone's hat trick condemned them to a reverse against local rivals Manchester United last month.

Always a constant threat, however, City have earned their passage through the competition with a 3-0 win over Ipswich Town; Jill Roord, Laura Coombs and Vivianne Miedema on the scoresheet.

In terms of January transfer activity, defender Rebecca Knaak arrived from Rosengård and forward Kerolin Nicoli came in from North Carolina Courage, while Lioness Chloe Kelly left to join Arsenal on loan for the rest of the season.

Gareth Taylor has a 73 per cent winning streak.

Taking charge of 161 Man City games in total, Gareth Taylor has won an impressive 118 times, averaging 2.3 points per game since his appointment in May 2020.

Although yet to lift the WSL, he has won two trophies during his tenure in Manchester; the FA Cup in 2020 and the League Cup in 2022.

Remembering a penalty shootout win at Joie Stadium.

The Foxes have never beaten Man City in the WSL, but do have success in a cup competition at Joie Stadium, when Janina Leitzig heroics during a penalty shootout in November of 2023, following a 2-2 draw in regular time, earned us a win in the Women's League Cup.

This term, the two sides have met once, also in Manchester, with Leicester on the wrong end of a 4-0 scoreline.
