Other new arrivals that season who wore this shirt design were Ade Akinbiyi, Junior Lewis and, briefly, Roberto Mancini.
In their first season at the Club, Gary played in every match for the Foxes in the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup. Scotland international Callum was also a regular first choice but missed some matches through injury.

This home shirt design lasted for only one season. It was very similar to the 98-00 home shirt, but instead of carrying the old Fox Leisure brand, this version was the first home shirt to be manufactured by Le Coq Sportif, who had also produced the previous season’s yellow and navy away jersey.
Wearing this shirt, the Foxes were top of the Premier League after eight games. They were still in the top four only 10 games from the end of the season. It was also worn for the UEFA Cup tie against Red Star Belgrade.

However, a shock home defeat in the quarter-final of the FA Cup against Wycombe Wanderers was followed by a run of nine defeats in the last 10 games, resulting in a very disappointing 13th position in the Premier League.
This particular shirt, pictured, was match worn by Neil Lennon, a midfielder who was synonymous with the successful Martin O’Neill era at Leicester. He was so influential that O’Neill described him as a ‘colossus who bestrode Filbert Street’.
This was the last Foxes shirt design worn by Neil as he signed for Celtic in December 2000, following his farewell game, a 3-1 home win against Leeds United. It was also the last City jersey worn by Steve Walsh, Tony Cottee and Stan Collymore.
