We head to Goodison Park to face Everton on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off)
Leicester City come into the game off the back of a 2-1 victory at Tottenham Hotspur last time out
Jamie Vardy equalised for the Foxes in north London to take his tally to seven for the season
The forward discussed playing under Ruud van Nistelrooy and returning to the Premier League
Sunday’s 2-1 triumph over Spurs saw our No.9 net his seventh of the league campaign, ahead of Bilal El Khannouss’ match-winning strike completing the turnaround at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and guiding the Foxes to a first away win under the stewardship of Ruud van Nistelrooy. Crucially, it lifted us outside of the bottom three by a point prior to taking on David Moyes’ resurgent Everton side at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off). The Merseysiders have hauled themselves out of immediate relegation danger in recent weeks since the 61-year-old returned for his second spell at the club.
Discussing van Nistelrooy’s impact since taking charge at King Power Stadium, meanwhile, Vardy also reflected on a testing first half of the season for City, acknowledging the difficulties of re-entering the top flight as a newly promoted team.
Firing home against Tottenham.
“We knew it was going to be tough coming back up because the gap from the Championship to the Premier League is probably the biggest that there is,” he admitted. “So, it’s all about trying to find a way of getting another win and making sure it clicks so we can pick up the points to keep us safe.
“It’s been really good (under van Nistelrooy). You’ve always got to make sure that you improve. He’s getting across how he wants us to play. We’ve obviously not been together for that long, so it’s all about clicking it into place now and getting the points that move us in the right direction to make sure that we retain Premier League status.”
The 38-year-old continues to defy the odds, starting 21 of City’s 23 league fixtures and providing 10 goal involvements, as well as assisting our progression into the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round earlier this month. Only two Leicester players have featured more than his 1,726 minutes so far this term.
The talismanic forward added: “I look after myself, make sure my recovery is done right and extra recovery when I’m at home. And the main thing is still having that hunger to want to perform and wanting to be the best that you can. Otherwise, I don’t think there would be any point in playing.”
