Aaron Ramsey and Jordan James take part in Premier League Primary Stars programme
The pair joined a special after-school club to celebrate Filbert Fox’s birthday
Leicester City in the Community have worked at Stokes Wood Primary School for almost 10 years
Every Thursday, coaches from our charitable arm visit the New Parks based school to deliver an after-school club, designed to help children engage with their learning through the power of football.
On this occasion, the session was an extra special one as it doubled up as a birthday party for our famous mascot - Filbert Fox!
After being presented with a birthday cake from Aaron and Jordan, Filbert joined the players and pupils to take part in a range of football-themed party games.
Speaking at the event, Aaron said: “It was brilliant to come along and see how much the children enjoy these sessions. Football has given me so much in my life, so it’s great to use it to help inspire young people with their learning.
“Celebrating Filbert’s birthday with everyone also made the visit even more fun. You could see how much the children loved having him at the school and he really helped to make the occasion memorable.”
The visit provided a memorable experience for pupils, who enjoyed the chance to meet two of City’s players and celebrate Filbert’s big day in style.
Funded by the Premier League, through the Premier League Charitable Fund, the Primary Stars programme uses the appeal of football to help children to be active and develop essential life skills.
