Ghana win FIFA World Cup opening fixture against Panama
Abdul Fatawu comes off the bench for final 30 minutes
It finished 1-0 to the Black Stars in Toronto on Thursday
Carlos Queiroz's side meet England next in Group L
The midnight kick-off looked to be heading for a goalless draw until Caleb Yirenkyi popped up with a goal five minutes into stoppage-time which saw Carlos Queiroz's men claim all three points in their opening Group L fixture.
Fatawu had started on the bench at Toronto Stadium but was called upon after 57 minutes with the scores still level, playing alongside departing Leicester City forward Jordan Ayew, who is captaining the Black Stars at the tournament.
The result sees the four-time African champions sit second in the group after matchday one, level on points with early leaders England, who they meet in Boston next Tuesday (9pm kick-off) after the Three Lions defeated Croatia 4-2 on Wednesday evening.
