Leicester City were beaten 2-0 by Crystal Palace at King Power Stadium on Wednesday
It was a sixth Premier League defeat in a row for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side
Victor Kristiansen felt City did not capitalise on being on the front foot in the first half
He says that they must now quickly look ahead to the upcoming home clash with Fulham
Wednesday’s 2-0 reverse at home to the Eagles was a blow for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men, who suffered a Premier League loss following second-half goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Marc Guéhi. It was a case of not taking key opportunities within the game that cost City, particularly across the first 45 minutes, being made to pay by Oliver Glasner’s side, who took control of the encounter after the break.
The full-back has started 18 league fixtures this term.
“I think the first half was good, maybe some of the best from our side this season,” the Denmark defender assessed post-match. “The second half was not good enough. We have to score on the chances we created and not let these soft goals out of nowhere go in.
“That’s the difficult part. You can stand here having played really bad, or stand here, as I think we do now, having played alright, and be in the same position. We still need the points so it’s not fun.
“It’s always like that in a football match. When you lose, sometimes you needed that two or three inches for the ball to go in and have that goal, but that’s how it is.”
Back to work on the training pitch.
With Fulham up next on Filbert Way this Saturday, the full-back believes City must take confidence as a group from the way they have performed in stages in recent weeks.
“In the first part of this season we were constantly under pressure and could not create enough chances,” the 22-year-old analysed. “We were constantly in our own box defending for 90 minutes and the last two months it has been going upwards with the performances.
“We’ve started to play more, started to be brave with the ball, started to create chances and just need to put it in. That’s very frustrating, but we have to stick together and go again on Saturday.”
