Yuka Momiki reacts to an Adobe Women's FA Cup win
The midfielder scored twice in a 4-1 win over third tier Stoke City
Nelly Las and Missy Goodwin were also on the scoresheet at Meadow Lane
The Foxes will face Manchester City in the fifth round at Joie Stadium
The New Year started in good fashion for the Foxes, who saw off the advances of Stoke City to ensure their spot in the fifth round of the competition. Scoring two of the four goals at Meadow Lane, Momiki was delighted to get a good result, and was happy to add to her goal tally, admitting it is unusual to see her so frequently on the scoresheet. "It's really good to finish with four goals to win in the first game of 2025," Momiki explained. "We have games coming faster now but it's good to start with a win.
City cruised past Stoke on Wednesday evening.
"In the game I had one solid defensive midfielder on me all the time so it was hard to receive the ball at times but we managed to deal with it and it's always nice to score a free-kick.
"It's rare for me to score two goals in a game so I'm happy to score. I got the opportunity to score with a free-kick, and Missy told me I could have it so thanks to my team-mates for passing the ball over to me.
"In the league, it's difficult to beat Man City, but we had a good feeling last season, so I think we're going to go with a fresh mentality and hopefully we get through."
Before their next FA Cup bout, Leicester must return to Barclays Women's Super League action, and do so with an away visit to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon (12:30pm GMT kick-off).
Celebrating a brace at Meadow Lane.
Wanting to carry the late momentum of last year through the second half of the season, our No.29 understands the importance of picking up points early on.
Momiki added: "We finished 2024 really good so we need to keep the intensity and quality that we had so we keep working hard in training and bring this winning feeling through as a team to the game.
"We have confidence, especially in our defending, so we just need to add a little bit more creativity in the attacking play and when we get a chance, to make sure we take it."
