The young Lioness reacted to a vital point on Filbert Way
The Foxes ended 2024 with what was an impressive draw, taking their first-ever point off the previous four-time champions of the Barclays Women's Super League. Goodwin, who was named on the bench on Saturday afternoon, replaced Deanne Rose early on through injury, and scored 10 minutes later before being substituted before the full-time whistle. The English winger shared her thoughts on the win and an unusual game for herself: "I said to Amandine [Miquel] that I don't think I've ever experienced that myself and I was sort of laughing myself thinking how have I come on, scored and then come off again, but I'm proud of the team to get a good result. A first goal of the season for Goodwin.
"Against teams like Chelsea you don't really get many chances so when you get chances it's important to take them, and thankfully I did that and as a team we worked well.
"It was almost a grit your teeth moment at the end and it shows how far we've come as a team and that we keep working hard to get our rewards."
Heading into the winter break with six points, and one space off the bottom, Goodwin referenced the importance of keeping a positive mentality and building on their start, when they return in the New Year.
Celebrating a first point against Chelsea.
"We've spoken as a team that it's all about mentality and working hard, and today was hard but we put in the shift and it's a positive point to take into the break," the No.20 continued.
"It just shows that we can compete. Chelsea haven't lost a game this season so to even take a point is something to be proud of.
"Everyone's got a great vibe and is really pleased and to even go toe-to-toe with one of the best teams around is very pleasing."
