The 18-year-old has been recruited ahead of our Sky Bet League One campaign getting underway this weekend, marking a first loan move and chance to showcase his abilities away from the south coast.

Aiming to excite the Blue Army with his attacking play, the winger made his Premier League debut for the Seagulls in 25/26, also appearing in the Emirates FA Cup and Carabao Cup alongside being capped for England Under-19s.

“I’m delighted to be here,” the Worthing-born youngster began, speaking on his first day in Seagrave. “I think it’s a very good opportunity for me and my career. I’m just excited to get going.

“It’s certainly given me a taste of football, playing a few games, but I want to do it consistently now and play football as much as I can.

“I’m a right winger or a no.10. I like to score goals and assist and take players on. I try to be as exciting as I can for the fans.

“I just want to get the ball and dribble and make things happen. Hopefully I can do that here.”

Providing insight into some initial conversations with Manager Russell Martin, Howell also spoke about the off-the-pitch changes of moving to new surroundings in Leicestershire, though there is one familiar face - fellow Albion loanee Tommy Watson.

“I’ve spoken to him once or twice about what position I’m going to play, what I can expect from him as a manager and what I need [to do] to get in his team,” he added. “He’s made me feel welcome and I’m excited to get going with him.

“He’s the type of manager that I like to play for in terms of style of play and hopefully we’ll suit each other. I also know Tommy quite well, he was at Brighton with me. We have a good relationship and hopefully on the pitch that will show.

“It certainly will be a test. Living away from home, it’s the first time I’ve ever done that so it’s going to be new and difficult. I’m ready for that challenge and it’s an exciting one. It’ll be tough but I think it’s the right stage of my career and my life to play football.”
