Young girls from local grassroots football clubs were invited to Belvoir Drive and King Power Stadium
The event was part of Leicester City in the Community's International Women's Day celebrations
The group took part in a special training session before watching LCFC Women in action
Organised by Leicester City in the Community, the event welcomed young girls aged seven to nine for a day dedicated to inspiring the next generation of women’s footballers.
Two grassroots teams came together at Belvoir Drive, the home of LCFC Women, to take part in a ‘Train Like A Pro’ session. Training on the same pitches as the First Team, the girls enjoyed a morning of skill-building activities and small-sided games in a fun, supportive environment designed to boost confidence and development.
After an action-packed morning, the group made their way to King Power Stadium to watch LCFC Women take on Aston Villa in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Ahead of kick-off, the girls were invited into the Community Hub, where they enjoyed food and took part in a range of engaging activities combining both education and play. The aim was to celebrate women’s contributions to football while encouraging the participants to continue their own journeys in the game.
The day concluded with the girls taking their seats in the stands, watching the professionals in action after experiencing the game for themselves, rounding off an inspiring International Women’s Day celebration.
