The Zambian’s 39th-minute hit, from a Luke Thomas free-kick, had us in front in Suffolk, but the automatic promotion-chasing Tractor Boys fought back in the second half. Sindre Walle Egeli’s close-range finish, with 14 minutes to play, eventually sealed a share of the spoils for the home side.
There was plenty of fight on show from Gary Rowett's men, however, in front of 1,800 members of the Blue Army who made the 260-mile round trip. This result leaves us 22nd in the Championship, one point adrift of West Bromwich Albion, with a double-header of home matches against Bristol City and Queens Park Rangers now on the horizon as we approach the final run-in.
A promising opening

The first half was encouraging for Rowett’s Foxes, who started on the front foot, asking questions of Kieran McKenna’s promotion-hunting Tractor Boys.
When Oliver Skipp galloped forward, slightly off centre, the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder tried to thread it through to Daka. The Zambian, though, wasn’t able to latch onto it.
It was nevertheless a warning for the home side, who had more reason to be alarmed when Harry Winks’ snapshot from 20 yards out needed to be pushed over by Christian Walton. Leicester were building momentum, with Stephy Mavididi firing wide as well, before Town skipper Dara O'Shea had to divert Abdul Fatawu’s cross away from danger.

Midway through the first period, Ipswich began to threaten a little more. Oliver Skipp bravely threw his body on the line to deflect Azor Matusiwa’s drive behind, while an O’Shea header – from Marcelino Núñez’s corner –hit the side-netting as well.
Although a defender by trade, home skipper O’Shea was causing issues, later also blazing a half-volley from distance narrowly over Jakub Stolarczyk’s crossbar after a strong Ben Nelson clearance.
With six minutes to go until half-time, after riding a mini-storm, we broke through. It came from a Luke Thomas free-kick, out on the left channel, whipped deep, where Daka was waiting to slam his left boot through the ball first time and on the volley, shepherding it into the bottom corner to hand us the lead at the break.
Protecting a point

Naturally, as Ipswich chase automatic promotion, the home side began to push forwards into the second half. There were some nervous moments, but until the equaliser, City were holding on reasonably well, withstanding the pressure.
That being said, a last-ditch header from Thomas was key midway through the half, while Stolarczyk’s position turned a dangerous moment into comfortable stop to deny Cédric Kipré from close range. The pressure finally told, mind you, with the hosts squeezing us back, as Walle Egeli – with the third Ipswich shot in quick succession – finding a way through at the near post to make it 1-1 with 14 minutes to play.
We had to dig deep to hold onto the point, too, with Chuba Akpom being crowded out in the box and then Jack Taylor finding Jordan Ayew in his way. A heroic block from Nelson, touching Akpom’s hit around the post, was the last real action of the game as the Foxes faithful – in fine voice all afternoon – showed their appreciation at full-time. We need more points, of course, but with two home games on the horizon, this gives Rowett’s men some positives to take into a big week on Filbert Way.
