  • Hear from goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk in our pre-season tour of Austria
  • The Polish shot-stopper kept a clean sheet against Zalaegerszegi on Saturday
  • He is set to be involved in one of City’s two friendlies this Friday
Hitting the final stretch of an intense, nine-day trip to central Europe, the 24-year-old is keen to maintain the Foxes’ winning mentality in Friday’s two fixtures against Ukraine Premier League side FC Karpaty Lviv (10:30am BST kick-off) and German Bundesliga outfit FC Köln (4pm BST kick-off).
Putting everything into each session on the training pitch, meanwhile, has allowed him to move towards becoming match sharp, with beneficial learnings to take into the new season.

“I’ve found it tough, like a pre-season camp should be, but it’s been really good,” the Polish goalkeeper told us during an insightful chat this week. “It’s a time to come together with the players.
“The weather is not helping us to be honest! Everyone seems to be enjoying it as well, as hard as it is. But we know we’ve got to graft in pre-season to get ourselves in the best shape possible for when we have that first game.”
Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Zalaegerszegi in Hungary, secured courtesy of Jordan Ayew’s 70th-minute goal, was a quiet one for Stolarczyk, though he had to be alert to produce a crucial save and ensure City triumphed at ZTE Arena.

Wednesday's session in focus as City prepare for the next two friendlies of our Austria pre-season training camp.
“That’s what I’m there for,” the shot-stopper reflected. “When something like that happens, I can help my team-mates to not concede and make a save. I don’t want anyone making mistakes but the whole game probably wasn’t as difficult for me individually.
“But I’ve still found it quite nice because it’s always good to get minutes and get your timings right. And keep practicing that concentration throughout the whole game because that’s what goalkeeping is all about. You might have nothing to do for 90 minutes but it comes to one minute and you’ve got to make a save to hopefully get a win.”
Impressed by Martí Cifuentes since the Spaniard arrived ahead of travelling to Austria, he revealed how everyone is buying into the new Manager’s methods. And with a 100 per cent record in the three pre-season games to date, Stolarczyk is keen to sign off on a positive note, with opportunities for the Manager and staff to see a lot more from the squad.

“Having a new Manager come in, he’s clearly brought some energy in and you can see that in the sessions; the intensity is very high,” the Pole added. “Everyone is already buying into what he wants to do. It’s definitely a positive first week of working with him. I’m really looking forward to the next.
“He’ll be able to give players more minutes and test players in different positions. It’ll be a good day of football again for everyone. It will be nice to finish off a good camp of hard work.
“That’s what we’ve been saying to each other going into every single game so far – to keep building the momentum going into the first game of the season. We have three wins out of three which is obviously nice, not the most important thing in pre-season, but definitely something we want to put our concentration on as well and have that winning mentality.”
