The UEFA Women’s Nations League group stages continued the past week, as five of our Foxes took part in the competition’s recent fixtures.
On Friday night, history was broken when Cayman was named in the Red Flames starting XI against England, making it appearance 158, as City’s captain overtook Jan Vertonghen as the most-capped player for Belgium.
The game, however, did not go so well as the Lionesses came out on top at Ashton Gate; winning 5-0, but the Belgians bounced back on Tuesday evening at King Power at Den Draaf Stadion, winning 3-2 after Tessa Wullaert’s hat-trick.
Our versatile midfielder was involved in every minute across the two games, but Belgium remain bottom of League A Group 3 with three points, just one behind Portugal.
Over in Wales, who lost 2-1 to Denmark before drawing 1-1 with Sweden, Cain and Olivia Clark both started the first game before being named on the bench on Tuesday.
Cain was still able to make an impact as a substitute against Sweden, scoring in the 68th minute, shortly after coming on to the field, as the Red Dragons remain bottom of League A Group 4 with two points.
Sophie Howard was also in action twice for Scotland, who suffered consecutive defeats to Germany, keeping them at the foot of League A Group 1 without a point.
The last Leicester player to feature in Europe was Hlín Eiríksdóttir, who played twice in Reykjavik, as Iceland added two points to remain third in Group A League 2.
City’s No.14 played over an hour in a goalless draw with Norway, before repeating that feat in a 3-3 match-up against Switzerland; Karólina Vilhjálmsdóttir scoring a hat-trick.
Scoring during the break for Japan.
Elsewhere, Momiki and Torres went head-to-head in a couple of friendly games between Japan and Colombia.
The first game in Osaka ended in a 1-1 draw as Torres scored her first senior Colombian goal 35 minutes in, before Momiki came on at half-time in the reverse fixture to score and assist during a 6-1 win for Japan.
Courtney Nevin, back in the Matildas squad, came on as a substitute in a 1-0 win against South Korea in Sydney, before starting the next fixture against the same opponents; Mary Fowler and Kaitlin Torpey scoring during a 2-0 Australia win at McDonald Jones Stadium.
Across in the Americas, Deanne Rose featured twice for Canada in friendly action against Argentina, coming off the bench in a 3-0 win in Vancouver before starting in a narrow 1-0 loss at Starlight Stadium in British Columbia.
Lastly, Chantelle Swaby started twice for Jamaica in two friendly matches against Mexico; although beaten on both occasions in USA, the centre-half added two caps to her collection for the Reggae Girlz.
