Most recently plying his trade with Trabzonspor in Turkey, the well-travelled midfielder joined us on a free transfer on Deadline Day, returning to the UK where he has turned out for the likes of Rangers, Sheffield United and Hull City, helping the latter two clubs earn promotion to the Premier League.

Discussing his decision to join Leicester on a two-year deal this week, Lundstram said: “All you ever hear about the Club is good things from the outside looking in. As soon as I heard of the interest, I was buzzing and keen to get it done. I spoke to the gaffer (Russell Martin) and it seemed like he really wanted me.

“It’s been a whirlwind but I’m made up to be back in England and get going back into the swing of things. I’ve met some of the lads and they all seem top class, so I’m looking forward to it. I’ve not played any pre-season minutes but I had loads of training for a couple of months.”

With a total of four promotions on his CV and over 500 senior games under his belt, the experienced Lundstram can provide leadership to some of the younger members of the squad and is keen to maintain high standards in training.

“In anything you do, the bare minimum is to give your all,” the 32-year-old continued, sitting down in his new surroundings in Seagrave. “That’s in any walk of life, for me, personally. Training is massive for me, as well. It grinds my gears if training is not 100 per cent.

“Playing against a few of the lads over the years, they know the game inside out so the recruitment has been brilliant and I’m looking forward to hopefully a good year.

“I’ve heard so much about all the young lads and I’ve watched a couple of the games. In the Ipswich game, I thought the young lads were fantastic in that, although the result wasn’t what we would have liked.

“Hopefully I can bring that little bit of experience to the group, help the young boys. I’ve heard loads of good things. There’s a couple of brilliant young centre-mids so anything I can do to help them I’ll be more than willing to do.

“I’m going to have to fight for my place with all this young talent. Whatever I can give to the group, I’m ready whenever the gaffer needs me.”

Coming into a group that is gathering momentum following the midweek victory over Plymouth Argyle, Lundstram is eager to pull on the shirt himself, with another home fixture coming up against Oxford United this weekend.

“We’ve got that win over the line so hopefully we can now be full of confidence going forward,” the former England youth international added. “I do really think it will be a good year.

“Turning up here and seeing the place and speaking to the lads and the Manager, it just gives me a real fire to get going. It’s an incredible environment to work in but you can’t take anything for granted so I’m super excited and super hungry.

“The stadium is an incredible place to play football. I’m going to give my all to them (the fans) and hopefully we can give them a good year and something to sing and shout about.”
