We were held to a 0-0 draw by Coventry City on Saturday
Home debutant Jordan James was frustrated not to win the M69 Derby
He himself had a chance to win it at King Power Stadium
The on-loan midfielder, though, is already looking to Friday for another chance to score and seal three points
James had two chances at King Power Stadium, each thwarted by Sky Blues goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, while Stephy Mavididi and fellow home debutant Julián Carranza also testing the visiting shot-stopper in LE2.
That’s not to say Coventry didn’t also have opportunities in a tight M69 Derby clash, but James – on loan from Rennes – was frustrated not to leave with a victory.
“We’re disappointed with the point,” City’s new No.6 said. “We felt that we created the better chances… one for myself and we had a few others.
“As a performance, I think we played well. We are still building a foundation so, at times, you can see it clicking, you can see the patterns, but we are obviously disappointed with the point. We want to win every game and that’s what we play football for.
“In the second half, I have to score. I live on arriving late in the box, I’ve scored quite a few goals doing it, so not being able to do it there was annoying.
“I was on it a lot in training. To be not be able to do it, I don’t know what it was, maybe tiredness, but I demand a lot from myself. There’s always a next time, so hopefully next week I can score.
Although frustrated with the solitary point, James’ focus is now on Friday’s trip to West Bromwich Albion – the next chance for points against another side to have made a strong start to the new campaign.
“We should have won the game,” he added. “If one of those [chances] went in, I couldn’t really see us conceding. You take the point. It’s a tough game in a derby.
“It’s always tight, but we’re looking forward to the next game. That’s the main thing. We’re enjoying ourselves out there. The squad’s really coming together, so I’m looking forward to what the future holds.”
