Khun Vichai was more than a Chairman – affectionately coming to be known as ‘The Boss’ by all on Filbert Way. His tragic passing in 2018, in a helicopter crash alongside staff members Kaveporn Punpare, Nusara Suknamai, and pilots Eric Swaffer and Izabela Lechowicz, led to an outpouring of grief across the city and beyond.

For eight remarkable years, he led us on an extraordinary journey, lifting us from the Championship to unthinkable Premier League glory. Against all odds, he helped script a fairytale that football will never forget – winning the Premier League title in astonishing circumstances in 2016. Beyond the trophies and triumphs – including an intrepid run to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

More than six years since Khun Vichai’s passing, a small gathering of Club personnel came together inside the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Memorial Garden.

On Friday (4 April), more than six years since his passing, a small gathering of Club personnel came together inside the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Memorial Garden – a precious space, designed to be an area of quiet contemplation.

For us all at Leicester City, honouring Khun Vichai’s memory is not just a duty – it is a privilege. Under the leadership of his son, Khun Aiyawatt, Khun Vichai’s values continue to guide Leicester City, shaping our future with the same spirit of ambition, resilience and heart that he embodied.

For those wishing to pay their respects, the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Memorial Garden (south-east corner of King Power Stadium) is open during daylight hours, while his statue – a permanent tribute to a remarkable life – stands proudly in the north-west corner, forever watching over the Club he so dearly loved.
